Time & Truth

After 45 years, I think I can finally see a significant difference in my patience level.  I have come to value and appreciate “time” as a friend and companion.

Mostly, I’ve come to understand that time will reveal things to me that are initially hidden. I’ve heard it said -and come to believe it as well- time reveals all. Let me say that again…Time reveals all!

I am in love with the truth. It is best suited for 99% of all situations. People are often afraid to use it because it yields such power. Power to hurt, embarrass, shift a position, but that’s why I love it. Truth will expose wounds that are in desperate need of light and air for healing. They have the power to disinfect and deliver.

So, I am no longer anxious. I can wait for things to reveal themselves. In fact, I’ve come to believe that you must wait. If you rush it, you may get a skewed view. It takes me years to feel like I fully know a person. The bible refers to the “fullness of time” and that’s just how see it. Time will fill in all the details. All we must do is wait.

I closely relate time with truth. Because time usually reveals the truth. This works on every level. The truth stands tall just waiting for someone to uncover or discover it. I often think about murder shows. People go years with an unresolved murder until some small clue i.e., a hair, a shoe print, a tire marking, or some other inconsistency reveals itself. The truth is– that the truth was always the truth. It never changed. Even though people couldn’t see it or didn’t know it existed it was always there. Being who it is. The truth will never switch up on you.

I can take comfort in the truth. Even when other people don’t know it’s the truth. If I do someone right despite how they’ve done me; I take comfort in that. Even if someone is trying to portray a different picture. I know that if anyone ever looks really closely, they too, will find the truth, because it stands tall and unwavering. Even though people are often blind to it. If they take their blinders off, they too will find it.

This leads me to a more practical use of the truth. Many of us are scared to step out on our dreams and visions. Afraid that we are not skilled enough. Afraid that we don’t have what it takes. EVEN THOUGH we have a proven track record of delivering. I spend a lot of time encouraging my clients to take a real long hard look at what is true. When we do this, we can often find it, standing tall, as we look over it and around it to cling to the lie.

Seek the truth. If it’s not first visible, trust me, it will come into focus over time.
